Aosta Walking Tour the Rome of the Alps
A tour through the history of the ancient city of Augusta Praetoria Salassorum, the Rome of the Alps.
Our tour starts at the Honorary Arch of Augustus and then moves to the monumental entrance to the city, the Porta Praetoria. Through the evidence that has come down to us, we will relive together the history and legends associated with its birth.
We will cross the city walls and walk along them to reach and visit the Roman Theatre, an interesting example of Roman architecture that will have many stories to tell us!
At this point, after an examination of the city walls, and visit to the Roman Theatre, we return to the old main street of the decumanus maximus where we will discover the remains of the heart of the ancient city, namely the Roman Forum.
Our tour among the ancient Rome of the Alps will then continue along the decumanus maximus, in a fascinating itinerary that will discover the heart of the ancient city, namely Roman Forum and the Forensic Cryptoporticus.
The combined ticket includes the entrance to the Roman Theatre, MAR, Cryptoporticus, Megalithic Area and Basilica Paleocristiana di San Lorenzo. Full price - 10€, reduced price - 8€ (for those with a tour guide from Aosta Valley)
